Waldorf=Astoria Hotel Comes To Chicago

The Waldorf=Astoria brand seems to be on a roll, financial crisis be damned. It was only a few months ago that we announced the planned Waldorf=Astoria hotel in Montreal and now we're adding Chicago to the list of lucky cities.
The hotel tower, designed by DeStefano & Partners is projected to reach 1,100 feet (that's over 100 floors!), but unlike certain other landmarks planned for Chicago, it will not surpass the height of the Sears Tower.

The current half-a-billion dollar project calls for 325 hotel rooms, 367 condo residences, conference space, along with a parking garage, restaurants and all the facilities you'd expect in a mega-project like this. We are careful not to overhype the parameters given the recent track records of high-profile projects in Chicago (as of the time of this writing, Calatrava's mind-boggling Spire is nothing but a big hole with severe financing problems). So, we'll take a closer look when we get there. And, according to the developers (The Prime Group, Inc), we'll "get there" in 2012.
