Testa di Maiale and Other Florentine Treats
Posted by Alban in Florence » Places To Shop on 07/Jan/2008
I might have had it and so have you, in all likelihood. It's just a way to make salami or any other kind of sausage. Usually, to make a salami, you take an intestine, fill it with ground up pig parts and there you go. In this case, however, you'll start with an emptied head (eyes and mouth sewn shut, all by hand) and get it filled with the ground stuff from the rest of the body.
This particular beauty was spotted at a grocery shop (La Standa, via Pietrapiana, 42, near Piazza Cesare Beccaria). And there's more good stuff in that neighborhood (read on)...

I remember that the first time I went to the B. was February 14th and I remember that the food was not bad and Mary and I were laughing coz a couple at the next table started to have a fight and the guy stood and walked out of the restaurant sticking out his tongue to the girl from the outside before disappearing. The other 2 times I have been there I noticed a slight change in the vibe and I think they might have had a rotation of ownership. Last time I remember that as soon as we ordered a bus stopped in front flooding in 50 to 60 people (turists) .I think our food came an hour late or so .

the good ol' market place in Florence. The market is one of the things that I miss the most .The market is my amusement park where I go and get everything I need for my food of the day and where I like to talk to the vendors which I like a lot. Very good choice of writing target. One thing I noticed about the market in Italy this last time I was there with Mary is that the vendor behind the counter is not the usual nice Italian old man/woman but the hired Indian or Chinese or Romanian guy . Anyhow the market is the best lunch choice.Everything is better tasting and cheaper then anywhere else .

never done it ,actually I had never thought of bravely ordering something off the menu while most of the time I don't even know what I am ordering from the menu.I wonder how would it be to order off the menu!!

Cinque Terre
Posted by Alban in Italy on 21/Nov/2007
Cinque Terre is situated in the Ligurian coast and without exaggeration, it's one of the most beautiful places I've seen in Italy. What's more, people are nice, the food is good and the scenery is fantastic...

the truth is that at some point in Montreal you don't even want to be outside and I am sure you can walk around with Gluewine(just kidding,Gluhwein) mug .I think that as long as you dont walk around with a beer/wine/wiskey/etc bottle you should be fine. They don't breathealize (is this even a word?) you walking on street /However ,drinking and driving in the winter in Montreal might be a little dangerous ...otherwise ,gluhwein bring it on!!

This a small part of what Bill Clinton pronounced as a National Monument in 1996.Many locals were not very happy with this for it limits the resource extraction and grazing which is a good thing because it slows the erosion. If the cows were to eat the little grass grown in the desert everything would crumble .The over use of the limited resources in the desert caused the fall of several ancient cultures such as the Anasazi and other pueblos that populated the desert .A little advise to visitors and hikers ,try to hike around with a guide for it is very easy to get in the canyons and very difficult to get out of it.And don't forget ,rattle snakes and cougars really exist in the desert and they like you to stay...If you need to find a guide try Keith ,who is a geologist which makes him a perfect guide and a very good company.
