Vinyl Bar
SiteBits reviewers solemnly survey the crowd.
"Luba Lounge" is gone, and we've been mourning the loss. The next step in our grieving process was to visit Vinyl, which has taken its place on Bleury St. just below Sherbrooke. After a Friday night film fest at Cinema du Parc we decided to check it out.

Gone are the pretty cocktails and velvet couches, and we miss the coolest hip hop hangout around. The vibe has become more costume-carnival for the fun kids who have just graduated from partying in their parents' basements (of which the décor is quite reminiscent). Now don't get me wrong, I long for the days when I could wear a Team Zissou uniform in public, and breakdance like there's no tomorrow, but I also like a civilized drink now and then (I should mention that drinks have gotten cheaper!).

A DJ hard at work at Vinyl
The DJs do their duty and cater to the eclectic crowd, spinning everything from indie rock to "put your ass in my face" rap.  People come here to have FUN, and at some point the bar was packed with all kinds of people dancing and touching each other vigorously. Everyone is friends here, at least for the night, and the party atmosphere is infectious, even overwhelming at some points (like when some kid barfed right in front of our table).

– "I like Vinyl, I really do" - said one patron, wiping vomit off his shoe, "But it will never replace Luba Lounge."
