ProfileJust north of Old Montreal, the Quartier
International is a small ultra-modern neighborhood which the city hopes will attract both international businesses (much of the neighborhood consist of office buildings) and the jet-set crowd (the abovementioned office buildings are mixed with loft residences and chic hotels such as a the
W).
Although the Quartier International does have a few large residential
buildings, it is not particularly lively in the evening. The fact that it's
primarily a business area is pretty obvious after 7pm - after dark, most of the
residents head north, toward
Le Plateau
and, to a lesser extent, south, to Old Montreal for
food, drinks and entertainment.
HotelsThere are only a few hotels in the Quartier International and they tend
to cater to business visitors.
The two large hotel properties are
Intercontinental,
right next to the Palais des Congrès and the W, in
Square Victoria.

(3) RestaurantsAlthough the area still has a long way to go, the first results are moderately
encouraging. After many years in
Le Plateau,
Toqué!, a venerable restaurant,
has moved here and seems to only have gained in popularity.
