An Old Montreal classic and, evidently, a favorite of many a city guide writer. Passable coffee and very good pastries. The café also serves lunch (sandwiches, salads, etc). The ordering routine can at times be slightly confusing (don't be surprised if you have to line up twice: the first time to order, the second time to pay the bill; we assume this is out of necessity and helps manage the customer flow better). Expect throngs of tourists and office workers at most hours. Mostly Québecois (but English-speaking) staff.
