5th Arrondissement

The 5th arrondissement is considered Paris' intellectual district. The Quartier Latin (so called because of the language utilized at La Sorbonne for teaching during the early years) is teeming with students, faculty, tourists and, to a lesser degree, immigrants.

Places to Visit

The Panthéon is not only the resting place of many Parisian intellectuals (Zola, Voltaire, Rousseau among them) but also the present home of the Foucault pendulum as well as the site of its first public demonstration.
