ProfileAs is the case of all high-numbered districts of Paris
(12 through 20), the 12th arrondissement is
mostly residential. Its north-western end features
the Opéra Bastille and, a bit to the south,
the Gare de Lyon - one of the major transportation
hubs in Paris.
The railway tracks that start at the Gare cuts through the southern
part of the district, slicing off the area called Bercy Village.
Separated from the rest of the district, this little neighborhood,
on the banks of the Seine, has a unique and distinct personality,
actually resembling a village. But the remainder of the 12th arrondissement is residential.
