Profile

An impressive collection of 19th and early 20th century art housed in a former train station. The museum's impressionsts section is considered the best in the world.

History

Paris-Orleans The Musée d'Orsay was built as a railway station in 1900. It was used as such until 1939, when it was closed. Its revival and reincarnation came in 1977 when Parisian authorities decided to convert it into a museum.

Trivia

  • Used as location for Orson Welles' 1962 film The Trial.
