Nanzen-Ji Temple: Garden Path

Nanzen-Ji Temple: Garden Path

A garden path and short bamboo fence at Nanzen-Ji. This temple complex is known for its depictions of tigers - both in the main rock garden (the large stones said to resemble, yes, crouching tigers) and in the Hojo's gold-painted sliding doors. This sight caught my eye because the bamboo fence is a mere foot or two in height - meant to gently carve space rather than "gate" anything. The Klimt-like pattern of the path's stones is just beautiful.
