Dining on Premises
The Oak Room, offers dinner and Cabaret show seasonally Tuesday through Saturday,
by reservation only, sundays it offers a Jazz Brunch. The Round Table Room, offers
retro dishes drawn from the Algonquin's culinary archives and a pre-theatre prix
fixe menu. And The Blue Bar offers pub fare and a selection of wine, cocktails
and domestic and imported beer.
The hotel has a tradition of keeping a cat since 1930. Males are named Hamlet and females are named Matilda. The current Algonquin cat, a Matilda, named 2006 cat of the year at the Westchester (New York) Cat Show, can be spotted by guests on her personal chaise lounge in the lobby. The general manager's executive assistant answers Matilda's e-mail. The staff throws Matilda a birthday party
every year.
