Nothing Wrong With a Little Bump and Grind

I'm a typical New Yorker. Art lover. Cultural fanatic. Subway enthusiast. Chain restaurant hater. Drag queen lover. When I visit other cities, I'm always afraid of what boring restaurants I'll have to dine in. On a recent trip to Texas, I realized how absolutely spoiled with culinary delights my life has been in New York. I was also crippled being a vegetarian...let's just say I ate a lot of baked potatoes at Texas BBQ joints. So I went to Denver. Bars are plentiful, as well as bar food. Which is fine, but not exciting. Then I was taken to brunch at the Bump and Grind. A rainbowed interior filled with pop art and collectibles greeted me. How cute! - I thought.
Aside from being cutesy and extremely entertaining, the food is AMAZING and the portions are huge. I had a tomato, basil and fresh mozzarella wrap that was as big as my head for $7.95. It came with fresh fruit (not that gross canned stuff) and spicy homefries. I barely ate half of it. One of my cohorts had banana waffles ($6.95) and the other a giant grilled panini club ($7.95) which was "awesome." The menu also has Mexican food, eggs and comfort food like mac 'n cheese.
I'd dare say that Bump and Grind is easily one of my favorite brunch places. Food, Folks and Fun? Wait, I think that's taken...

The bar was lined with baked goods and Barbie dolls. And then I saw, poised behind the bar writing on a tiny tablet was...a drag queen! Was this fag hag in heaven?! I'd been taken to a drag queen brunch place in DENVER?? Apparently during the week, the Bump and Grind is merely a coffee shop. No stuffed bras or wigs- the staff dresses "regular." But on weekends the kitchen opens up and the waitstaff shuffles about in heels.
And the staff entertains...we ordered two Cokes and were promptly served two lines of sweet white stuff (which was remarkable like Sweet n Low) and a Suzanne Summers poetry book to reflect upon.
